why i love my name so much: there are double consonants in all of the four parts of it.
there is nothing i like more than words with double letters. now, ideally, i prefer double 'o's, but i will take what i can get. and i'm quite satisfied with my lot.
on that note, hear are a few examples of real beauty:

harpoon
harpoon-gun(my favorite word of all time, incidentally.)((it has a great punchiness to it, don't you think? yum.))(((i know it probably counts as two words, but i always slip the hyphen in there to try and loophole around it. hey! loophole's not bad either.)))
kangaroo
('kangaroo pouch' is how i like to hear the word kangaroo best)
monsoon
typhoon
loony
moon
moon-moon
cartoon
a-choo
choo-choo
roost
door
floor
shoot
scoot
brood
blood
zoo

coming tomorrow or the next day: pictures of pictures- some of my favorite polaroids from my vast archives, re-taken with a digital camera and reproduced here. i think i'll make this an ongoing periodic post. there are really way too many favorites to display all at one time, anyway.

this is one of my favorite buildings. i bike right by it everyday, when my front tire isn't flat. i love love love the paint colors.and the setting. and everything about it.

i've been thinking lately about elliott smith and his ferdinand the bull tattoo. i love the story of that sweet, hedonistic bull. and the illustrations are great. i had a funny conversation with a friend via facebook recently when i had posted about finding three four-leaf clovers but my cat, derrida, ate one of them. it went back and forth a bit, with me deciding i wanted to write a children's book about jacques derrida eating lucky clovers with my cat playing his namesake. i said to my friend, 'like ferdinand the bull meets deconstruction.' and he wrote back, 'deconstruction. bull. you said it, not me.' i loved that.
